Winner of Tidy Towns Award
We did a project documenting the very successful "Make Our School Proud Programme 2007". We did lots of work at our school to make it look better both indoors and outdoors. The work included -powerhosing the roof and painting it, painting the outside of the school, upgrading the toilets and surrounding areas, a big spring clean outside the school and replacing doors and windows. When the work was done, we had a special outdoor mass in the school yard. We invited our parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends to celebrate with us. It was a lovely sunny day. We had an open air disco and a party too. We had a great day. We were awarded the top prize in the Western Region Tidy Towns Primary Schools Competition. We received a cheque for €750 and a certificate. We were very proud of our success.

Miss Murphy and some of the sixth class pupils were invited to Turlough House, Castlebar to a prize giving ceremony.

Hosanna Rock

This year we had our school Christmas play on Thursday the 20th of December 2007. We started practising four weeks before the play. This year it was called ‘Hosanna Rocks’. It was a modern version of the Christmas story. The whole school was involved. Some people were actors, some people were saying readings and everyone was singing on the altar. The people who were singing on the altar had to wear black clothes and a Santa hat. The actors were dressed in clothes suitable for their part. We had to learn all of the songs and practised singing them in the church. There was one funky song called ‘Something Extra Special’ where the fifth and sixth class had to put on sun glasses. All the teachers helped us. Miss Lardner helped us to learn the songs, Mrs Magnier did the music and Mrs Keane took pictures. We had lots of fun and we got our holidays the next day.
