Unbroken Attendance Awards for the School Year 2008-2009

Congratulations to 9 pupils who received a very special award today for 100% attendance for this school year. This was an excellent achievement and one not to go unnoticed!

Denise Collins from the National Education Welfare Office in Galway came to the school to present these children with their certificates of achievement and Miss Lardner presented them with a prize. Well done you you all.

Official Opening of the new extension

Today we had a special ceremony to mark the opening of the new extension. Thank you to Fr King and Fr Charlie who came and blessed the new classrooms and offices. Thank you to Peadar Monaghan for all his work and leadership during the school extension. Thank you to the Parents Association who provided refreshements for visitors to the school and for the children today.

Lots of parents came today and we thank you for your ongoing support in making Newcastle School the success it is today.

Tree of Remembrance

On 25th June 2009 we planted a 'Tree of Remembrance' in memory of deceased parents who died while their children were attending our school.

We remembered Eamonn Feeney, Agnes Keady and Ann Nolan at the ceremony. We prayed for them and their families.

Miss Murphy and Mr Nolan help to sow the tree.

We prayed for Eamonn, Agnes and Ann and their families today.
